Relationships

I believe that healing happens in relationships. Not only in our relationships with partners, family and friends or pets, but also in the relationships we have with ourselves, our past, our present and the future we imagine. We also have relationships with our beliefs, our communities and the expectations that society places upon us. These relationships shape how we see ourselves, how we connect with others and how we experience the world. When we begin to understand these relationships with greater curiosity and compassion, even small changes can have a profound impact on our emotional and physical wellbeing.

My Journey

My journey into psychotherapy began through my work in children's social care, where I saw first-hand the profound impact that relationships, communication and misunderstanding can have on individuals, couples and families. Time and again, I witnessed people who cared deeply for one another but struggled to understand each other's experiences, emotions and needs. The consequences of this were often felt most keenly by the children around them.

These experiences led me to train as a Systemic Psychotherapist. I wanted to work in a way that moved beyond simply addressing problems or deciding who was "right" or "wrong". Instead, I became interested in helping people understand themselves, each other and the wider contexts that shape their lives.

Alongside my private practice, I continue to work within adult services, and my professional background includes children's social care, family therapy and teaching. These experiences continue to shape my practice, but it is the relationships I build with the people I work alongside that remain at the heart of everything I do.

My Philosophy

For me, therapy isn't about everyone agreeing. It is about creating enough understanding that different thoughts, feelings, experiences and perspectives can exist alongside one another.

When we become curious about the reasons behind our feelings, behaviours and decisions—and those of the people around us—we create opportunities for connection, compassion and lasting change.

As a Systemic Psychotherapist, I see people within the context of their relationships rather than in isolation. Together, we explore the patterns, stories and experiences that have shaped your life, recognising both the challenges you have faced and the strengths you have developed along the way.

Sometimes even a small shift in one relationship can have a ripple effect. Changing the way we relate to ourselves may change how we relate to our partner. Changing how we understand our past may influence the choices we make in the present. Learning to question long-held beliefs or societal expectations can open up new possibilities for the future.

How I Work

People often tell me that I bring warmth, energy and curiosity into the therapy room. While I offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space, I also believe that meaningful change sometimes comes through gentle challenge.

I will encourage you to think differently, notice patterns and explore new perspectives, always at a pace that feels safe and respectful.

Although therapy often involves talking about painful experiences, I don't believe it has to feel heavy all of the time. Humour can be an important part of being human. Sometimes sharing a smile or a moment of laughter allows us to come up for air before returning to the difficult conversations. Those moments of lightness can create space for hope, connection and fresh understanding.

Working Together

My aim is not simply to reduce distress, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, strengthen communication, reconnect with what matters most, and move forward with greater confidence and hope.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, we will work together at a pace that feels right for you, supporting change that feels meaningful, sustainable and grounded in your life and relationships.

You don't need to have all the answers before you begin, and you certainly don't need to have all the pieces of the jigsaw. Together, we can start with the pieces that are already in front of us and gradually make sense of the picture that is uniquely yours.
